Finalised Idea

* The theme is narrowed down to the idea of 'communication', how it is needed to keep pace with the advancement of technologies (here, refers as the western technologies) from other countries and at the same time, maintain the multi eastern cultures that exist in Singapore.

* Intended outcome:
An object that uses the mechanism of musical box, where user has to twirl its handle to produce sound. The sound is based on the written text or drawings by the users, which later will be translated by a 'scanner' into sound.

* Materials:
- Software that translates drawings into sound.
- Hardware that scans the drawings (webcam).
- Object - music box.
- Paper and pen.

Semester 5

Interactive Art - Level 3

Theme: West. Singapore. East.
- Technologies advancement in a Singaporean context - a melting pot where western and eastern cultures converge.

Questions: how do we create, use and apply available technologies in our every day life? how does technology relate to and shape our traditions, culture and lifestyles? how do we as artists and designers use technology to enhance, help, reveal, entertain, infotain, educate, support our every day life and that of our audience?
